Black Narcissus (UK, 1947)

An indisputable classic. A melodrama that inevitably lurches into Gothic horror for one of the greatest climaxes in cinema. Generally I don’t like British cinema, because it’s wedded to realism, but this is Expressionist masterpiece. (Digital print at Pictureville, 6). See also Roy Stafford’s blog; I agree with his observations on the print. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039192/
